Stafford Heights is an older area approximately 8km from the Brisbane CBD (approx 35 min drive) which in recent times has attracted the attention of a younger buying market.
As with its neighbouring suburb, Stafford, the breakdown of housing in Stafford Heights is predominantly single unit dwelling (houses) with a few townhouse and unit complexes. First homebuyers have taken advantage of the relative affordable prices which has contributed to increased prices over the last few years.
Renovations in the area are lifting the suburb's profile, especially the revamping of old housing commission homes. These solid timber homes have become highly sought after among first homebuyer wanting to add their personal touch to a 'start up' home.
The area is a mix of established families and retirees, as well as younger first homebuyers such as couples and young families. All groups are well catered for by good shopping and public transport facilities.
Regular bus routes service residents needing to get to the city and/or neighbouring shopping centres. Enoggera and Alderley rail stations are the closest train transport, within five to 10 minutes' drive.
Stafford Shopping Centre, Brookside Shopping Centre and Westfield Chermside, as well as Flockton Village and Coles in Everton Park service residents. Suburban Cinema Complexes at Stafford Shopping Centre and Westfield Chermside are also popular with residents.
Walk and bike ways are plentiful but for residents looking for something a bit different the Raven Street Reserve in the neighbouring suburb of Chermside West is close at hand. Picnic and barbeque areas are also available in the local parks.
Stafford Heights is serviced by Stafford Heights Primary School and Somerset Primary School and in neighbouring suburbs, Everton Park High School, Padua College and Stafford Primary School.
Medical facilities are also close by, the nearest being North West Private Hospital, Prince Charles Hospital and Holy Spirit Hospital in Chermside (all approx five to 10 min). The Royal Brisbane Hospital is about 25 minutes by car. Older residents also have the Stafford Heights Retirement Community at their disposal.
