Commentary Hendra is located six kilometres northeast of the Brisbane CBD and borders the Gateway Motorway, Nundah, Clayfield, and Ascot.

As with its neighbouring suburbs, Hendra is predominantly a family-oriented community. The local school (Hendra Secondary College) is supplemented by state and private schools in the neighbouring suburbs.

Westfield Shoppingtown Toombul complements Hendra's local stores and services residents with major retail and supermarket outlets. For those willing to travel a bit further Lutwyche shopping centre and Westfield Shoppingtown Chermside are also close by.

Hendra plays host to the Doomben Racecourse, parks, bike and walkways. Kedron Brook runs through Hendra, Nundah and Wooloowin and has walking and biking paths running alongside.

Public transport services in the area are excellent with the northern train line running through the area and Hendra, Albion, Wooloowin, Eagle Junction, and Toombul train stations all close by. Regular bus services also make getting into and out of the City easy for Hendra residents.

Brisbane's domestic and international airports are just as easily accessible by car or the sky train.

The area has seen a progression of residents from retirees and older residents to young families and couples. Residential development has been slowing and new buyers have been opting for renovation of older housing.
