Commentary Darra is an older suburb about 15 kilometres southwest of Brisbane. The suburb is mainly made up of older-style weatherboard and chamferboard homes built in the 1940s and 50s.

Part of the overall project for the area involves the further redevelopment of the industrial park in the area that should provide an injection of capital into the community and further upgrade local infrastructure and community facilities.

The Brisbane City Council has been active in rejuvenating the streetscapes of the suburb as well as neighbouring recreational and parkland facilities in Jindalee and Sinnamon Park.

The suburb is conveniently located on the train-line and this will provide incentive for people to settle there, as travel to the city is relatively fast and easy.

There have been a number of people of Vietnamese origin settle in the area which has provided an interesting cultural diversity in terms of local shops and eateries.

The Brisbane City Council has recently completed a Suburban Centre Improvement Project in the shopping area on Darra Station Road.

The suburb is right next door to the Centenary suburbs and conveniently located near the Mount Ommaney shopping centre with its many retail and commercial facilities. The Centenary Highway and the Ipswich Highway provide convenient access to the Brisbane CBD.
